Dealing with the aftermath of a traumatic event can be overwhelming, not only emotionally but also physically. At Econ Biohazard, we understand the sensitivity and urgency required in crime scene cleanup situations. Preparing for professional cleanup services can significantly ease the process, ensuring safety, efficiency, and peace of mind. Here are some essential steps to prepare for the arrival of our expert cleanup team.
Ensure the Area is Safe and Accessible
Confirm the area is cleared by law enforcement: Before any cleaning can begin, it’s vital to ensure that law enforcement has released the scene. This is crucial as the area may be part of an ongoing investigation. Once it’s cleared, our team can commence work.
Provide clear access: Ensure that the access to the affected area is as clear and unobstructed as possible. This helps our team to move equipment and cleaning materials efficiently, which is particularly important in emergency cleanup situations.
Protect Yourself and Others
Avoid the affected area: It is critical to limit exposure to potentially hazardous materials, including bloodborne pathogens and other biological contaminants. Keep family members, pets, and others away from the area until it has been professionally cleaned and sanitized.
Do not touch or move items: Disturbing the scene can not only pose health risks but may also affect the outcome of an investigation. Our trained professionals will handle all items with the care and attention needed, adhering to strict health and safety regulations.
Document the Scene
If it’s appropriate and safe to do so, consider taking photographs of the area before cleanup begins. This might be necessary for insurance claims or future reference. However, always prioritize safety and ensure you have permission from the appropriate authorities when needed.
Communicate Effectively
Before our arrival, providing our team with as much information as possible can be incredibly helpful. Details regarding the type of incident, the areas affected, and any specific concerns or needs you might have allow us to tailor our approach effectively. Our friendly and professional team is here to support you throughout this challenging time and ensure that your space is returned to a safe and peaceful condition.
Prepare for Emotional Impact
Handling the emotional aspects of a trauma scene is as important as the physical cleanup. Having support from friends, family, or professional counselors can be crucial. At Econ Biohazard, we approach our work with compassion and respect for your emotional and physical well-being.
